BEACH SAFETY SERVICE
Carrick's beach safety service covers seven beaches and employs thirty seasonal lifeguards. These beaches are: Gyllyngvase, Porthtowan, Chapel Porth, St Agnes, Perranporth, Perransands and Holywell Bay.

The lifeguard season covers from mid-May through to the end of September. The service runs from 10:00 till 18:00 seven days a week. |
| These lifeguards performed 311 rescues during the 2000 season. The rescues included recovering people to shore using a variety of craft, Rescue boards being the most used, along with the IRB (Inshore Rescue Boat) on Perranporth, and the flexible torpedo tube used whilst swimming.
Carrick's lifeguards also dealt with 1,239 first aid cases of varying nature and including the stings of the much maligned Weaver fish (Bishop fish).

When bathing on any patrolled beach please listen to the lifeguards' advice and feel free to ask them questions. Remember to bathe Between the Red and Yellow flags. |
